The United States Postal Service has the following excellent and challenging employment opportunity for highly motivated and innovative individuals to work in our Supply Management, Supplies Material Management office at the U.S. Postal Service Headquarters in Washington, D.C. (The primary function of this position is non-mail freight transportation, which involves the planning, execution and payment processing for transportation of supplies, equipment and parts used in daily Postal Service operations.) Successful candidates must demonstrate through a combination of education, training, and experience the following requirements:
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Knowledge of commercial, and/or postal purchasing and contracting procedures and regulations.
2. Knowledge of material logistics practices.
3. Knowledge of market place commodities, i.e., supplies, services, equipment, transportation, and facilities.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, sufficient to build and strengthen customer and supplier relationships.
5. Ability to perform market and industry trend analysis, evaluate supply sources, and assist customers in identifying solutions to their needs.
6. Ability to analyze data and make recommendations and appropriate business decisions.
7. Ability to perform market surveys and to analyze cost and pricing data.
8. Ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts and modeling techniques to recommend logistics alternatives (transportation, warehousing, inventory control) and to optimize asset management and recovery.
9. Ability to plan negotiation strategies, negotiate terms and conditions.
10. Ability to develop and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
11. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Applicants must possess one of the following degrees or professional certifications: (1) a baccalaureate or post-graduate degree from an accredited college or university which includes at least 24 semester hours of instruction relevant to supply management duties. Examples include: accounting, business finance, commercial (business) law, economics, quantitative analysis, marketing, contracting or purchasing, organization and management, materials management, logistics and inventory control. (2) Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) from the Institute for Supply Management. (3) Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from the American Production and Inventory Control Society; or (4) Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) from the American Production and Inventory Control Society. Qualified applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening to meet the U. S. Postal Service's requirement to be drug free. Applicants must also be a U. S. citizen or have permanent resident alien status.
The salary range is $48,279 to $72,355. Salary will be based on previous experience, education, salary history, and current postal pay policies.
